The APG currently has a membership of petrographers, civil engineers, materials scientists and other professionals who undertake, or require and use the results of petrographic investigation.
Most members are based within investigation and testing laboratories, consultancies or specialist materials research service organisations based in the UK or Europe, but membership is open to graduate scientists and engineers of all kinds who have a particular interest in the petrographic study of materials.
Applied Petrography Group (APG) is affiliated to the Engineering Group of the Geological Society of London

CAPSM was founded to foster the development of all aspects of electron microscopy by supporting existing activities and stimulating new ones. The Committee supports and initiates specialised meeting, symposia and workshops. CAPSM also assists individual researchers and regional research groups in meeting their needs such as technical staff training, while facilitating the interchange of information from past meetings.
The Society was founded to meet the growing demands of microbeam analysis users and scientists for further education, communication and professional advice. The Society is independent, but co-operates closely with national and international microbeam analysis groups, and other European societies with related interests. EMAS is a founding member of IUMAS, the International Union of Microbeam Analysis Societies. The Society is a nonprofit making organisation registered in Germany. A copy of the constitution will be sent upon request.
The activities of the Society promote this branch of science and stimulate technical and scientific developments on a European scale. In order to achieve its goals, the Society is active in the development and operation of technical and scientific education programmes. Furthermore, the Society encourages communication and co-operation among scientists and offers support to its members whenever there is a general interest to promote. The Society also strives to enhance awareness of the possibilities and limitations of microanalytical methods and thus increase the quality and significance of the analysis results.
The International Corporate Microscopy Assembly (ICMA) is focused on presenting the commercial vantage point to the International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM).
The International Federation of Societies for Microscopy’s (IFSM) aim is to contribute to the advancement of microscopy in all its aspects. It comprises microscopy societies from all around the world.
The most important activity of IFSM is the sponsorship of the most important series of meetings on microscopy: the International Microscopy Congress (the IMC) is held every 4 years. IFSM also supports young scientists to attend meetings of our Members.
Activities between the IMCs are managed by the IFSM Executive Board which is led by the President, the Immediate Past President (Vice-President) and the General Secretary. The General Assembly takes place every 4 years at the IMC. At that time, the General Assembly selects the site for the next IMC from proposals submitted by Members of IFSM.
International Society for Stereology & Image Analysis (ISSIA) is an international scientific society aiming to promote stereology and image analysis in a wide range of disciplines. ISSIA continues from the well established International Society for Stereology with expanded scope to all aspects of image analysis.
Our members are coming from many different fields of science such as mathematics, biomedicine, computer science, material science, statistics, geology, stochastic geometry, etc.
McCrone Research Institute is a not-for-profit educational and scientific research organization located in Chicago. Active since 1952 and founded by Dr. Walter C. McCrone and Mrs. Lucy B. McCrone in 1960, it is dedicated to teaching and research in applied microscopy. The McCrone institute offers a multitude of microscopy courses, performs scientific research, publishes books and a scientific journal, The Microscope, and hosts an annual conference, Inter/Micro, where microscopists present their research in all areas of microscopy and microanalysis.
