30 June to 03 July 2026
Loughborough,United Kingdom

The UK’s Electron Microscopy and Analysis Group are pleased to announce a one-day symposium with a “Focus on Quantum Materials”. The symposium will be held as a satellite of the Condensed Matter and Quantum Materials conference (https://iop.eventsair.com/cmqm2026/), and held in Loughborough on Wednesday 1 July 2026. Our aim is to foster discussions between our special interest groups and highlight the synergy between our disciplines.

Attendees will benefit from the ability to attend both EMAG and CMQM sessions and activities, including a free-to-attend student-focused workshop and networking event on June 30th. You will be able to register for a one-day pass for 1st July only at a reduced rate, or for the whole of CMQM plus the EMAG session on 1st July.

EMAG invited speakers are: Demie Kepaptsoglou (University of York) with a talk entitled “Magnon Spectroscopy in an electron microscope” and Thomas Walter (University of Sheffield) with a talk entitled: “Imaging and spectroscopy of semiconductor quantum wells and dots at near-atomic resolution in scanning transmission electron microscopy”

The abstract submission deadline for oral or poster presentations at the EMAG one-day session is 22nd May 2026: https://iop.eventsair.com/cmqm2026/emag-at-cmqm. PhD students and early career researchers are, as always, strongly encouraged to present!
